Wedding Photography FAQ
Will you photograph my wedding?
I would love to! I am also LGBTQ+ friendly and love photographing all types of couples and showcasing all kinds of love! Let’s meet at my studio or over a zoom and chat all about your big day and see if we are a good fit.
When should I book my wedding photographer?
You should book your wedding photographer as soon as you book your venue. This can be a year or even more before your wedding. This also locks you into my current collection rates.
What is a retainer fee?
A retainer fee holds your date for your wedding from anyone else, this is non-refundable but will be applied to the balance of your wedding collection.
How can I pay you?
The retainer can be paid in credit, check, or cash and the balance can be paid via check or cash
When should we do our engagement session?
I suggest doing your engagement session at least 6-12 months in advance of your wedding, especially if you are planning to send out save the dates. If you are booking closer to your wedding and not planning to send out save the dates then that time frame won’t matter as much. The engagement session is a great time for us to get to know each other and to also create some gorgeous images that are more casual than those we will create on your wedding day.
How long do we need for family, wedding party & for pictures of me and my partner?
I need at least 2 hours to complete all the family photos, wedding party photos, and then you and your spouse. For the images with you and your spouse, it is easiest if it is just us and one helper. It is usually best to send everyone on their way or out of sight for these, so we can really capture some gorgeous portraits of you both without any distractions. This is also one of the first times in the day you and your spouse will not be surrounded by so many people and is often a nice break in the hustle and bustle of the day.
Do I need to feed you and/or your second photographer?
Yes please, and please have them serve us when they serve you, that way we will eat when you do and will be able to go with you while you greet your guests in between dinner courses. Please put me and my second in the room with you and not in a separate room so I can see you and know when you need me.
How long until I can see my photos?
I have my images for wedding clients available to view within 8 weeks with an upgraded option of rush turn-around available to view your images within a week.
Why don’t I get to see all the photos you took, you seemed to of taken thousands.
You wouldn’t want to see all the photos I took, I cull them for you so you are seeing the best of each part of your day. I choose the ones that are up to my professional standards as well as the ones with the best expressions. This culling process is something that I have down to a science and I promise I'm not hiding any amazing photos. I provide all the usable images from your big day!
What does editing mean?
I go through and edit each image bringing out the colors, adjusting contrast, color balance, cropping, as well as small blemish removal. Having a pimple on your wedding day it doesn't need to be forever captured. I have a very clean edit and don't overwork images. I want you to look like you in your photos. If you want more work done beyond this on certain images I can work with them at a rate of $50 per hour.
Why do I need anything other than the digital files from you?
I believe in making photographs, and without printing your images they are just a .jpg file that will live and die on your computer. Having something tangible to hold is important because in years from now, your children and your children’s children will want to remember where they came from and who you are. You can’t frame a hard drive. When it comes down to it I want to make your life easier and provide you with something you will be proud of and want to display in your home. You are investing not just your money with me but also your time. I would love for you to have something tangible to show for that.
